Andrew Blackmore

Andrew Blackmore is a senior at UConn pursuing a Finance major, Economics minor and Valuation & Portfolio Management concentration. This past summer, Andrew interned at the Hartford Investment Management Co. (HIMCO) on the Private Equity Group and will be returning for a full-time position in July, 2020. His primary responsibility this summer was analyzing the portfolio of ~150 Private Equity fund commitments in order to understand the firm’s current exposure to ~1000 underlying portfolio companies. Prior to that experience, Andrew interned at Ironwood Capital, a middle market Private Equity firm. Outside of SMF, Andrew is the VP of Programming for Finance Society and VP of Finance for his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Alex Flug

Kyle Tesei
Portfolio Manager, Fall 2019
Kyle is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. Previously, he worked an internship in commodity trading at Kolmar Americas Inc., where he managed correspondence for 94 petroleum-based chemicals and analyzed economic trends in the petrochemical market. Last summer, Kyle worked as an analyst for Marine Money International, a maritime finance publication, where he analyzed annual reports and financial metrics of public ship management companies. Kyle is also a member of the Fed Challenge team at UConn, where he studies monetary policy and the impacts of various policy recommendations, modeling the FOMC, while competing against other Universities at the Boston Federal Reserve College Challenge. After graduation, Kyle will be working for Moody’s as an associate analyst three, and in his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends, playing lacrosse, and reading.

Sean Monaghan

Sean is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Management Information Systems and Finance, with minors in Politics Science and Data Analytics. As a Sophomore, he studied abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He has gained valuable experience in analyzing financial data while interning at Voya Financial and Electric Boat. Sean is from Chester Connecticut and in his free time enjoys playing and coaching volleyball, spending time with friends and family, and getting better.

Dhvani Visaria
Communications Manager, Fall 2019
Dhvani is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance with a minor in Accounting. Last summer, Dhvani was a summer analyst at J.P Morgan Chase & Co. where she was part of the Global Finance and Business Management team. Specifically, her team focused on banking regulations such as Regulation W and Regulation K that are firmwide governmental restrictions imposed by the federal government. Dhvani’s primary responsibility was to assist her team launch an internal database system and manage all transactions over $50 million, by creating a usage analysis file. Last year, Dhvani was an RA at Husky Village where she was able to create a holistic and inclusive community. Outside of SMF, Dhvani is the Vice President of Finance of Alpha Epsilon Phi and is current receptionist at the Q center. She is passionate about finance and along the way hopes to complete her CFA. Dhvani is from Brookfield, CT and in her free time she enjoys figure skating, working out, hiking, hanging out with her friends and baking.

Julia DeMarkey

Julia is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance with a minor in Spanish. Julia has had past internship experiences with Centinel Financial Group, LLC and Liberty Mutual Insurance, both in Massachusetts. At Centinel Financial Group, she learned about personal portfolio management, asset allocation, life insurance, and annuity products. At Liberty Mutual in their sales internship program, she delved deeper into the various products they offer and experienced value-based selling. During her sophomore year, she participated in a study abroad program to Granada, Spain to immerse herself in the culture and to help her language proficiency to work towards her minor. Julia is a member of the co-ed business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and is the business manager of The Daily Campus. In her free time, Julia enjoys spending time with friends and exploring one of her passions, dance, with the UConn Dance Company.

Matthew Grohoki

Matthew is a Junior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance. He works at a catering company near his hometown of Norwich, Connecticut on the weekends and summers as well as at Off Campus and Commuter Student Services in the Student Union during the academic year. Matthew has had a passion for investing since highschool and his goal is to invest professionally as a portfolio manager one day. Along the way he hopes to acquire his CFA and possibly a Masters Degree in Business. In his free time he enjoys watching/playing sports, weightlifting, investing/research and spending time with friends and family.

Nicholas Beckwith
Nick is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance and Applied Mathematical Sciences. He was previously a Q-center mathematics tutor, and currently works as a tutor for the Student Athlete Success Program (SASP) for finance and math courses. Nick has had previously internships with Sikorsky Aircraft and Moody’s Investor Services, and he plans to return to the latter upon graduation as a full-time associate analyst. Nick is from Bethany, Connecticut and enjoys watching football, card games, and spending time with family.

Michael Burnett
Co-Lead Manager, Spring 2020
Michael is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in finance with a minor in economics. Over the past year he has worked as part of a wealth management team at UBS Financial Services, affording him the opportunity of working closely with investment management professionals, analyzing client portfolios to help achieve their long-term financial goals. After graduation Michael will begin working towards the CFA designation in pursuit of a career in asset management. Michael is from West Hartford, Connecticut and in his free time enjoys managing his personal investment portfolio, as well as playing and teaching golf.

Austin Goll
Austin is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance with a minor in Mathematics. As a Junior, he studied abroad as part of the UConn Business and Economics in London program, where he studied Global Financial Management and Business Ethics. Austin has had previous internships with Hyatt and Prudential Financial, and plans to return to the latter upon graduation. Austin is from Budd Lake, New Jersey and in his free time enjoys snowboarding as well as spending time with friends and family.

Alex Greco

Alex is a junior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance. He is graduating a year early to pursue a master’s degree in financial risk management at UConn. Alex is excited to further develop his quantitative skills in finance through this program. As a sophomore, he worked in Stamford as a capital markets consulting intern at Aon, McLagan. Next summer, he will be working at Prudential as an FIP intern in their Newark office. Alex is from Trumbull, Connecticut and enjoys watching Boston sports, playing golf, and traveling.
