SMF Fund Managers are selected through a highly competitive application process. Each team has three fund managers, with one Lead Manager per team. Student Fund Managers apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom to real investment portfolios, traditionally earning impressive returns even in today’s volatile economic environment.

Chris Strobel

Chris Strobel is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a degree in Finance. In addition to being on the Student Managed Fund, Chris is also a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities. This past summer, Chris gained valuable experience while interning at Laidlaw & Company in New York, NY.  Within their rotational program, he gained valuable experience while working in wealth management, capital markets, and research analytics. Chris is originally from Northborough, Massachusetts and graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 2012. In his free time, Chris enjoys exercising and spending time with family and friends. Upon graduation, he hopes to work in Investment Management or Banking.

Brian Wilczynski

Brian Wilczynski is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Finance in the Honors Program. Over the summer, Brian was a Summer Analyst at Bank of America, where he worked within the firm’s Global Wealth/Investment Management Division. In addition to being on the Student Managed Fund, Brian is a research assistant in the Economics Department and a member of the Honors Council and the Math Club. After graduation, Brian will be returning to Bank of America as an analyst, and he hopes to pursue a graduate degree in economics as well as pass the CFA exam. In his free time, Brian enjoys long distance running, reading, and playing sports with his friends.

Tom Maclean

Tom MacLean is a senior finance major and the Bloomberg Specialist/Web Manager for the Student Managed Fund. As a sophomore, Tom and his roommate co-founded the Mock Wall Street Club, an organization dedicated to helping students gain experience with investing. The club hosts an online investing competition each year, which now has over 200 active participants. This summer, Tom interned at Bookspan – an e-Commerce and media company based in New York City – and had the opportunity to work with the Corporate Finance, Digital Marketing, and Operations teams. Outside of the classroom, Tom enjoys competing in powerlifting competitions and hopes to own his own gym one day. He also coaches a youth basketball team in Mansfield, CT.

Michael Morabito

Michael Morabito is currently a junior in the Honors Program at the University of Connecticut, pursuing degrees in Finance and Economics.  In addition to being Treasurer and Secretary of the Student Managed Fund, Michael is Student Vice President of the UConn Beta Gama Sigma Committee, a member of the UConn Archery Team, the UConn Finance Society, the UConn Honors in Business Association, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  This past summer, Michael interned at FactSet Research Systems Inc. in their Americas Investment Management Department.  Michael is from Norwalk, Connecticut and in his free time enjoys archery, reading, and spending time with friends and family.  Upon graduation, Michael hopes to pursue a career in Investment Management.

Zack Marcoux

Zack Marcoux is a senior Finance major at the University of Connecticut. This past summer, Zack gained valuable experience as a Financial Analyst Intern at UnitedHealthcare where he worked with excel to forecast and analyze operating expenses.  Zack has completed a minor in French and has studied abroad in Paris, France for one semester.  In addition to the Student Managed Fund, Zack has been involved on campus as the CEO of the UConn Consulting Club and as a mentor for Cross-Cultural Connections.  Zack is from Burlington, CT and enjoys hiking, playing soccer, and traveling in his spare time.

Yijun Li is a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a Finance degree and a minor in Mathematics. Yijun gained a variety of international experiences where she interned at KPMG Audit Department, Citibank Young Talent Program, and ICBC’s private banking in Bejing, China. Yijun started her own portfolio earlier in 2015 and was intrigued by the various ways to view unfolding trends and events in the financial world. Upon graduation, Yijun plans to apply her knowledge of economics and mathematics in financial services industry or a business master program. Yijun is an international student from Beijing, China. As a travel enthusiast who visited 20+ Chinese provinces and 10+ countries, she plans to visit all 50 states during her time in the U.S.

Jackie Isola is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a degree in Finance. In addition to being a undergraduate manager for the Student Managed Fund, Jackie is also the Vice President for the highly esteemed UConn Finance Society. Outside of the School of Business, Jackie is the Events Coordinator for an on-campus student group, Pencils of Promise, and a proud sister of Alpha Phi International Fraternity. This past summer, Jackie interned at UBS Financial Services in Stamford, CT within their Group Operations division. In her free time, Jackie likes to travel, read, and enjoy the shoreline at her house in Spring Lake, New Jersey.

Brittany Martens is a senior at the University of Connecticut studying Finance. This past summer she worked at UBS Investment Bank as a Sales and Trading intern. Here she rotated through Prime Brokerage and Foreign Exchange, rates, precious metals and e-commerce sales. The prior summer she worked in a consulting capacity for the Connecticut Bar Association under the guidance of Pelorus Advisors. Here she worked to ensure a smooth transition to a new earnings reporting program as well as reviewed financial statements. In addition to being in the Student Managed Fund, Brittany is also an active member of the Finance Society and Habitat for Humanity, serving as the Alternate Spring Break Coordinator last year. Brittany is from Woodbury, Connecticut. In her spare time she loves to both snow and water ski.

Anthony Mancini

Anthony Mancini is a senior finance student at the University of Connecticut. Anthony passed the Level 1 CFA Exam in July 2015. Anthony is currently an employee at United Technologies Corporation. He works in UTC’s Tax Department, and works with both U.S. and Non U.S. tax codes as they relate to UTC’s Business and Industrial Systems subsidiary.
