SMF Fund Managers are selected through a highly competitive application process. Each team has three fund managers, with one Lead Manager per team. Student Fund Managers apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom to real investment portfolios, traditionally earning impressive returns even in today’s volatile economic environment.
Todd Massedge
Undergraduate Student – Senior
Major: Finance/Actuarial Science
Todd Massedge is a senior at the University of Connecticut studying Finance and Actuarial Science. Over the past two years, Todd has passed the SOA Exam P/1, on probability, and the SOA Exam FM/2, on Financial Mathematics. Recently, Todd interned with Prudential Financial where he developed a new annuity product and lead a group of interns in creating a project proposal for senior executives.
Todd is from Stratford, CT and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 2009. He graduated with honors, and was captain of the volleyball team for two years.
In his spare time, Todd enjoys activities such as wakeboarding, snowmobiling, volleyball and football.

Dominic Mangano
Undergraduate Student – Senior

Minor: Mathematics
Dominic Mangano is a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a major in Finance and a minor in Math. During the past two summers he spent his time interning for Integra Biosciences, where he worked heavily in Operations assisting in maintaining and bettering their inventory control process.
Dominic is from Hollis, NH where he graduated from Hollis-Brookline High School in 2009. Outside of school, he prefers to spend his time playing golf with friends and spending time with his family.

Paul DeSalvo
Undergraduate Student – Junior
Major: Finance
Paul DeSalvo is a junior finance major at the University of Connecticut. During the summer, he interned with the Minneapolis StarTribune Newspaper in the circulation department.
Paul is the CFO of the Finance Society and a Division-1 Track athlete. He is an All-Big-East academic as well as an All-Big-East competitor. He is from Minneapolis Minnesota and graduated from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.

Medo Abdel-Latif is a senior Finance major with a concentration in global finance and risk management and a minor in Political Science – International Relations at the University of Connecticut. He developed an interest in investments at an early age and started investing during high school. In addition, Medo has had a wide variety of international experience where he interned at Ernst & Young in different offices throughout Egypt and the Middle East. Upon graduation, he wants to pursue a career in corporate finance.
Medo is an international student from Cairo, Egypt. He is an avid traveler and plans to visit all 50 states during his time in the U.S. Medo spends his free time rowing, climbing, and playing soccer.

Mike Bergin is currently a Senior Finance major with a certificate in Professional Sales at the University of Connecticut School of Business. Mike gained valuable experience as a summer analyst for Atalaya Capital Management LLC, a Special Opportunities Fund located in New York City. There he was apart of an investment team focusing on primary and secondary distressed and illiquid credit opportunities as well as principal financing, where he was exposed to fundamental valuation and financial modeling. The internship helped him grow his professional network, evaluate different business models across several industries, and become familiar with credit documentation.
Mike is also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, a social fraternity where he held the positions of Executive Treasurer and Social chair. He also enjoys skiing and playing volleyball. Following his graduation in May of 2013, Mike hopes to find a career in Investment or Private Banking.

Brian Laureano is currently a senior Finance major at the University of Connecticut. In addition to being on the Student Managed Fund, Brian is the Co-President for the UConn Finance Society which is one of the largest student run organizations in the School of Business.
This past summer, Brian interned at BlackRock in their Portfolio Analytics group where he was responsible for producing and analyzing risk metrics on a variety of fixed-income securities. In his junior year, he completed the Finance Pre-Professional Development Co-op at IBM where he gained extensive experience in corporate finance. During sophomore year, Brian interned for UBS Wealth Management where he learned about financial markets, technical analysis, annuities, and insurance products.
Brian is from Rockville Centre, NY and spends his free time playing basketball, reading, investing, and spending time with friends and family. Upon graduation, Brian hopes to pursue a career in Investment Management or Banking.

Domenic Mazzola is a senior Finance major at the University of Connecticut. During the summer of 2012, he started Friends Car Detailing, offering high quality automotive detailing services. Domenic is also a member of the UConn Finance society and an Eagle Scout.
Domenic grew up in Concord, MA and graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 2009 where he played on the Varsity Baseball team. In his free time he enjoys restoring classic American cars with his dad and brother as well as spending time with friends. Following his graduation in May 2013, Domenic hopes to work in Investment Management or Financial Services.

Nikhith Naidu is a senior in the Honors program pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Engineering and Finance at the University of Connecticut. He has had internships at UTC Sikorsky, the University of Connecticut Foundation, and most recently at Accenture.
Nikhith is from Durham, CT and graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall in 2009 where he participated in the team that won the National Fed Challenge.

Thomas Shippee is currently a senior Finance major at the University of Connecticut. Thomas has gained valuable investment management experience through his various internships at General Re – New England Asset Management and Symmetry Partners, LLC. At GR-NEAM, he worked with the Client Strategy group to actively manage multiple fixed income portfolios. Upon graduation, Thomas plans to pursue a career within the investment management field and begin his studies for the CFA examination.
Thomas grew up in Wethersfield, CT and is a 2009 graduate of Wethersfield High School. Outside of his studies he spends his free time skateboarding, shooting pool with friends, and traveling.
