2018-2019 Team Stamford

Team Stamford operates under the guidance of Blake Mather. The managers apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom and utilize fundamental analysis and value investing as they manage a $1M portfolio. The team meets weekly for stock pitches and portfolio strategy.     


About the Managers


Christian Escotto-Rosado

Christian Escotto-Rosado is a senior Financial Management major and Accounting minor at the University of Connecticut. In addition to his role as the Book Keeper for UConn Stamford’s inaugural Student Managed Fund, Christian serves as the Vice President of UConn Stamford’s Financial Management club. Christian interned at IBM for 8 months as part of IBM’s co-op program and is looking forward to beginning a tax internship at Point 72 in Stamford starting January’19. Christian is from Danbury and on his off time enjoys playing video games and basketball with his younger brothers.


Yuan Gao

Yuan Gao is a second-year graduate student in Financial Risk Management program. Yuan’s first taste of her business idea dates back to the research she did in National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, during the period of undergraduate education of Economics in Beijing, China. Prior to joining UConn, Yuan advanced her career with a rotation program at Bank of Gansu, a commercial bank in China, to equip herself with thorough finance trainings. After rotation she focus on the credit risk to effectively evaluate the risks for target companies and avoid post-loan risks. Inspired by the great potential of the whole business world, she pursues a master’s degree at UConn to learn more about investment and risk management. Her concentration will be focused on Risk Management, Portfolio Management and Analytics.


Karthik Gurusamy

Karthik Gurusamy is a graduate student in the MSFRM program at UConn Stamford Business School. Currently he is interning at Societe Generale, NY in the Structured Products Financial Engineering Team. Prior to this, he was a Technology Associate in Prime Services Risk at Goldman Sachs, Bangalore. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy. In his spare time, Karthik loves playing tennis and is a big fan of science fiction and super hero movies.


Sijie Hu

Sijie Hu is currently pursuing a MS degree in Financial Risk Management. She is a CFA level II candidate. Last fall, Sijie interned as an investment banking analyst in energy and shipping group at Chatsworth Securities LLC, which is an investment bank in Greenwich, CT.  Outside of Student Managed Fund, she is involved in the UConn Federal Reserve Student Committee.


Jialian Li

Jialian is a graduate student in Financial Risk Management. She had 2-year working experience in insurance company in China and strong background in Mathematics and Programming with bachelor’s Degree of electronic engineering. She focuses on equity investment for several years.


Lindsey Lozyniak

Lindsey Lozyniak is a senior Financial Management major and Accounting minor at The University of Connecticut, Stamford. In addition to her role in the Student Managed Fund, Lindsey is a member of the Financial Management Club, and looks forward to interning at US Wealth Management this spring. Lindsey is from Westport, CT and enjoys boating and spending time with family and friends.


Anshul Manglani

Anshul Manglani is a Graduate student in University of Connecticut pursuing his Master’s in Science in Financial Risk Management program. He is a certified Financial Risk Manager by Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) and an Associate Chartered Accountant by Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). In addition to his role in Student Managed Fund, Anshul is the Teaching Assistant for the MSFRM program for the subject Risk Modeling. Professionally, Anshul has worked as a Credit Risk Manager in the Auto Loan Segment for 2 years and as an Internal Auditor for 3 years. Anshul is a risk management enthusiast and is always keen to learn more about new developments in the field of risk management.


Chintan Shah

Chintan Shah has a double Masters in Finance. Chintan is a Graduate student in MS in Financial Risk Management with concentration in Quantitative Finance at UConn. Prior to joining UConn, he obtained a Masters degree in Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He has done his Bachelors in Electronics Engineering. Chintan has more than four years of professional experience working in varied roles. He has worked as an analyst at Srei Equipment Finance Limited (earlier Srei – BNP Paribas) in the Strategy and Finance team working on different projects in credit analysis, capital raising, strategic consulting, financial planning and analysis and risk management. He also has spent a summer as an equity research intern at Sharekhan. Chintan’s areas of interest lie in investment valuations, portfolio management techniques, capital markets and risk analytics.


Di Yang

Di Yang is currently pursuing his Master’s in Financial Risk Management at the University of Connecticut. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Economics from the University of Wisconsin, He worked as a Senior Data Analyst in a Cardinal Health. During his study in UConn, he interned in Summer Haven Investment Management and worked on various research projects and competitions. He is also co-founder of Federal Reserve Student Committee. He loves to spend free time in doing equity research and trading.
