SMF Fund Managers are selected through a highly competitive application process. This team is under the guidance of Chris Wilkos. Student Fund Managers apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom using fundamental analysis and value investing in real investment portfolios.

Jeffrey Noonan is a senior in the Honors Program at the University of Connecticut pursuing a degree in Finance. In addition to his role in the Student Managed Fund, Jeffrey serves as the Managing Director of the UConn Consulting Group (UCG) and as the President of the Honors in Business Association (HiBA). Professionally, Jeffrey has gained experience as a Summer Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and as an Associate Consultant Intern at Bain & Company. After graduation Jeffrey plans to backpack through Europe before joining Bain & Company full time in Boston. In his free time Jeffrey enjoys running, soccer, and rooting for all Boston sports teams.

Joaquin Sanchez

Joaquin is a senior finance major and economics minor in the honors program. Last summer he interned at Pratt & Whitney in their Strategy & Development group. He studied a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore. Joaquin also held an internship at Travelers in product management. Outside of the Student Managed Fund, he is involved in Finance Society, Honors in Business Association, and UConn Fed Challenge.

Mark Kugler is a senior finance major and german minor in the honors program at UConn. He has interned at Merill Lynch and Prudential and will be returning to Prudential after graduation in the Finance Leadership Development Program. In his free time he leads a Bible Study at St. Thomas Aquinas in Storrs, and also enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with friends.

Maeve Manley is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a major in finance and a minor in economics. This past summer she interned at Aetna in their Finance Internship Program. Outside of SMF, Maeve has studied abroad in London, is the Vice President of Member Relations of the Finance Society, and a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Maeve is from West Hartford, CT and enjoys reading, traveling, and spend time with family and friends.

Alec is a senior Finance major in the Honors Program at UConn. He interned with FactSet Research Systems this summer as an Investment Management Consultant. After his sophomore year, he worked on the Investment Research Team at RubinHaney Capital Management in Stamford, CT. He is looking to begin his career in capital markets, and has long term career goals of working in investment management. Apart from SMF, Alec is an active member of the Finance Society and Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He enjoys skiing, playing golf and spending time with friends.

Reilly Cotter is currently a senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a degree in Finance with a minor in Management Information Systems. This past summer, Reilly interned at Cantor Fitzgerald and Co. as a Sales and Trading Summer Analyst where he rotated through the Fixed Income Sales Management, High Yield, and Risk Arbitrage desks. Reilly is from North Salem, New York and is an avid fan of Derek Jeter and the 27-Time World Series Champion New York Yankees. Upon graduation, Reilly will be returning to Cantor Fitzgerald as an Analyst.

Marissa Esposito

Marissa Esposito is a senior Finance major at the University of Connecticut. This past summer, Marissa interned at J.P. Morgan Chase in New York City assisting the Corporate Financial Reporting team. In the prior summer, Marissa had participated in a 6 month long co-op at IBM with the Accounting Acquisitions Department. In addition to being a member of the Student Managed Fund, Marissa is a member of the Finance Society and is a former member of the Business Connections Learning community, where she had participated in a faculty-led immersion trip to Italy. Marissa is from Seymour, Connecticut and enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, and skiing in her free time.

Dan is a senior finance major in the Honors Program. Last summer he interned at Credit Suisse in their Leverage Finance Origination & Restructuring group. Upon graduation, Dan will be joining the LFO&R group full-time. Previously, Dan interned at Ironwood Capital and Merrill Lynch. Outside of the Student Managed Fund, he is involved in the Finance Society, Honors in Business Association, and Mock Wall Street Club.

Stephen Mwangi

Stephen Mwangi is a senior honors student studying finance at the University of Connecticut. In addition to the Student Managed Fund, he is deeply involved in the Undergraduate Finance Society, currently serving as Co-President. During his time at UConn he has interned at Moody’s Investors Service and Morgan Stanley, and will be returning to Morgan Stanley’s Mergers and Acquisitions Department upon graduation. Stephen is from Windsor, Connecticut and in his free time enjoys reading, writing, exercising and spending time with friends and family.

Vivek is a senior finance major and economics minor in the Honors Program at UConn. In addition to being a member on the Student Managed Fund Team, Vivek is the Co-Coordinator for Kids and UConn Bridging Education (KUBE), a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society, and a Peer Advisor in the School of Business. This past summer, Vivek interned with the Market Risk Team at Credit Suisse. Vivek is from Newtown, Connecticut and in his free times enjoys playing golf, traveling the world, and spending time with friends and family.
